Much of Jacobs' life is a mystery and is a source of speculation and inquire amongst readers. Kelly has done much to cultivate this air of mystery by sometimes listing his/herself as from 'parts unknown'. From an author interview [1]it is known that Jacobs was born on October 3, 1988 in Texas and presumably still resides in that state.
Jacobs began writing on his or her first novel in the later part of 2009 on a whim and was inspired to pursue a career as a writer as well as a funeral director and embalmer. His or her first published work was Frozen Prairie from Extasy books, quickly followed by The Dead Heart.
From character ideologies in the author's works, it is generally inferred that Jacobs is either a communist, populist, isolationist or anarcho-syndicalist.[2] Jacobs' disdain for purchasing of imported goods, especially those of Chinese manufacture and those produced with sweatshop labor, is well noted by fans. Jacobs often warns of the dangers that imported good pose to the American economy, going as far as to blame the current global financial crisis on absence of domestic manufacturing.[3]
